Announcement Regarding Starting operations of the Gujarat Plant in India

KOITO MANUFACTURING CO., LTD. announced today that its subsidiary INDIA JAPAN LIGHTING PRIVATE LIMITED (IJL) established the third plant in Gujarat, India and has started operation from March, 2024, in response to the medium- to long-term growth of the automotive industry and to the increase in new orders.

1. Background and Reasons for Opening the New Plant

The production of automotive lighting equipment in India has been carried out at two plants, the Bawal Plant (Haryana state) in the north and the Chennai Plant (Tamil Nadu state) in the south so far. 
   The automobile industry in India is expected to grow over the medium- to long-term due to population growth and economic development, and IJL's new orders are expanding. Under these circumstances, in order to respond to the expansion of automobile production and orders for EVs and other type of vehicles in the western India, IJL has opened its third plant, the Gujarat Plant, aiming for highly efficient manufacturing with proximity and combined processes.
   We will strive to strengthen our competitiveness and increase orders by further improving QCD (quality, cost and delivery).

2. Outline of the Gujarat Plant

(1) Location: 
Sanand Industrial Park in Gujarat, India 
*Approx. 40 km west of Ahmedabad 
Plot No. SM-9/4, Sanand-Ⅱ Industrial Estate, Gujarat, Sanand 382110 Gujarat
(2) Size:
Land area 100,000㎡, Building area 26,700㎡ (Floor area 29,000㎡)
(3) Business: Manufacture and sale of automotive lighting equipment
(4) Start of production:  March 18, 2024
(5) Production capacity: 500 thousand units each of automotive headlamps and rear combination lamps annually
(scheduled by the end of March 2025)
(6) Investment amount: Approx. 3.7 billion yen 
(total amount from fiscal 2019 to fiscal 2025, the year ending March 31)
(7) Major customers:  Maruti Suzuki India and Tata Motors, etc.

3. Impact on Business Performance

KOITO does not expect any significant effects on its consolidated business results for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024.
